Hitler High On Crystal Meth During World War II

A steady supply of crystal methamphetamines kept Adolf Hitler awake while he was leading Nazi Germany during World War II, The New York Daily News reported on Tuesday.

New research produced by the American military intelligence shows that the tyrant took more than 74 various medications while he ordered the eradication of European Jews.

After getting high on crystal meth, the Fuhrer ranted for a full two hours during his last meeting with Italian fascist leader Benito Mussolini in July 1943.

His last days in his bunker were also spent in a drug-addled daze, with Hilter taking up to nine shots of methamphetamine to ease his distress.

On top of methamphetamine, he also took barbiturates, cocaine-laced nasal and eye drops, morphine and bulls' semen that his personal physician gave him to increase testosterone levels and appear virile in public.

The findings have been made into a documentary airing on Britain's Channel 4 called "Hitler's Hidden Drug Habit."

Drug use during World War II wasn't unheard of. Methamphetamines were doled out to soldiers in many armies to stimulate them and keep them awake. It was consumed in Germany under the name Pervitin, which Hitler consumed along with his cocktail of drugs, according to the Washington Post.

The drug's side effects, like insomnia, paranoia, hallucinations and unpredictable behavior, weren't well- known at the time. Hitler began to show signs of Parkinson's disease towards the end of his life, which might have been brought on by his drug habits.
