‘Archer’ Season 6: EXCLUSIVE C.C. H. Pounder Cast as Lana Kane’s Mom, EPs Dish on New Episodes

Everyone's favorite spy, Sterling Archer, will return with more missions, witty comebacks and lots of laughs in January. The FX adult animated series was renewed for a sixth and seventh season, both with 13 episodes.

HNGN.com recently caught up with the cast of "Archer" and the show's producers on the red carpet at the 2014 PaleyFest to get the scoop on what's in store for the gang.

At the end of Season 5, Archer found out he was a father and ISIS will no longer be ISIS when the show returns. They are now sub-contractors of the CIA.

HNGN: What can you tell us about the Season 6 premiere episode?

Executive Producer Matt Thompson: Archer has run away from home again because he wasn't ready to be a dad and he gets called to go on a mission in South East Asia. [Archer will be battling] wanting to be a father, not wanting to be a father... all season he's kinda taking one step forward and one step back. Ebbs and flows of what it means to be a father.

H. Jon Benjamin, who plays the title character Sterling Archer, told us his character is desperate to go on missions this upcoming season because he's not ready to face parenthood.

"Maybe in Season 15 [he'll be ready]," Benjamin joked.

HNGN: What else can we look forward to this season?

Matt Thompson: One thing that's coming is we're bringing back Conway Stern (voiced by Coby Bell). We haven't seen him for a while and also we're bringing back Barry the Cyborg... two of our more favorite characters. So we're looking forward to what kind of havoc they can wreck with Archer.

And the guest stars we have is Allison Tolman, she's going to be Pam's sister Edie, and we just cast C.C. H. Pounder as Lana's mom and Keith David as Lana's dad. We're going to see Archer and Lana take the baby to go meet her parents and it goes really wrong, really quickly when Archer does some very, very terrible things to Lana's parents. It's naughty.

HNGN: I know you can't tell us what Archer does but on a scale of one to ten, how bad is it?

Matt Thompson: I have in-laws and I know my wife would never talk to me ever again.
