Would you like a dead mouse with that?
Ron Morais of Canada said he discovered a dead mouse at the bottom of his McDonald's coffee, CBC Canada reported on Wednesday.
He was drinking his brew on the way to work and decided to take the lid off the paper cup to get the last few sips. That's when he made the startling discovery.
"I always take the lid off to get my last sip of coffee. And when I took the lid off, there was a little bit of a surprise in my coffee cup. It was a dead mouse," Morais told CBC.
The man also said he found mouse feces in the cup along with the carcass.
Some of Morais' coworkers witnessed the moment when he discovered the mouse.
"'Oh my God, there's a mouse in my coffee,' is what he says. I turn around and look at him. The first time I looked, I actually looked and it's really, he's not joking," Jennifer LaHaye said.
On Tuesday, a Department of Health restaurant inspection found no evidence of pests. All food items were properly packaged, and the eatery was not penalized by the department.
McDonald's Canada added that no rodents were discovered by a pest control management company when they searched the building.
"We are continuing to investigate this isolated incident and have reached out to the customer to obtain the product sample," the statement said, according to CBC.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Morais said that he felt ill after realizing he had drank a whole cup of coffee with the mouse on the bottom.
"I kind of had a little queasiness in my stomach," he said.
Morais' mouse encounter isn't the first time McDonald's patrons have said they found gruesome discoveries in their orders. In 2007, an NFL coach, his wife and the family nanny sued McDonald's for $1.7 million in damages after they said they found a dead rat in their salad, according to CNN Money.
A Miami mother discovered that her daughter's McDonald's pancakes were filled with insect parts in 2011. She said her daughter was traumatized after finding tentacle, wings and body parts on in her breakfast, according to NBC Miami.
