It's probably not a coincidence that Marshawn Lynch has averaged 21 carries in all three of Seattle's wins this season and just 8 carries in their losses. Lynch + more carries = wins. Take that, math.
Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said that he will look to feed Lynch early and often in the coming weeks. And, in case you were wondering, it isn't to appease millions of fantasy owners sending mean tweets about Lynch's inconsistent workload.
"The fantasy owners...I'm not a fantasy owner. I don't care about anyone's (fantasy) points. But I do care about us winning the game. And Marshawn is a huge key for us winning the game. And we do - and I - have to do a better job of giving him the ball," Bevell said, according to the News Tribune.
Hey man, whatever you say. Just as long as Lynch touches the ball more. Otherwise, expect the mean tweets to keep-a-comin'. I got some itchy keyboard fingers.
"I mean, I want to use all our guys," Bevell said. "You go to the three games we win, we are up in the 60-play range. The two games we lose, we are in the 40-play range. It's just not enough. All our guys are very talented. We want to have all of them involved.
Bevell can also switch up the play calling to help Beast Mode's cause.
"Lynch got 10 carries Sunday and would have gotten more if Seattle could have sustained drives," ESPN's Mike Sando wrote. "The Seahawks can help the process. I've been tracking their run-pass ratio on early downs, especially when they've been tied or leading, situations that give play-callers additional flexibility. The percentage has reached 54.5 or higher five times in 24 games since the start of last season. Three of those five highest percentages happened this season in games against San Diego (five total plays), Denver (58 total plays) and Dallas (22 total plays)."
