Heidi Klum and Seal's fairy tale marriage has officially ended as the couple finalized their divorce on Oct. 14, according to TMZ.
The couple managed to separate their assets without any problems thanks in part to a post-nuptial agreement, signed while the couple was married, that kept most of their earnings separate. They also agreed not to provide spousal support for one another and reached a property settlement agreement months ago.
The "Project Runway" host filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences in 2012, three months after the couple announced their separation.
"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," Klum and Seal said in a joint statement to People.
"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition."
The couple married on a beach in Mexico in 2005 and had three children together. Seal also legally adopted Klum's daughter Leni from a previous relationship in 2009.
The couple settled on a confidential custody agreement on all four children. Klum had asked for joint custody but wanted primary physical custody with Seal receiving visitation rights, according to TMZ.
The court also granted Klum's request to restore her maiden name. The former supermodel had legally taken Seal's surname Samuel, but kept Klum for her professional life.
Klum and Seal had gradually stopped wearing their wedding bands more and more at the end of their relationship. Klum also reportedly became sensitive to Seal's temper, which may have led to their separation, according to TMZ.
The "America's Got Talent" judge is reportedly dating Vito Schnabel, a 28-year-old art dealer and 13 years younger than Klum. Seal has been seen romancing several women since his marriage separation.
