Apple Brings Updated Mac Mini At Affordable Cost, Starts At Just $499

Apple has finally updated its untouched Mac mini with the latest technology and a new low-price point to attract consumers to the less-popular category.

Apple, the renowned tech company, made several announcements at the press event in Cupertino on Thursday. Among major releases like new iPads, iMac with Retina 5K display and Yosemite, the Cupertino tech giant also updated its long-due Mac mini line.

The updated Mac mini features latest technologies with Intel's processors and graphics in an affordable package.

In an official company's press release, Apple said the new Mac mini is powered by Intel's fourth generation Core i5 processor and HD Graphics 5000, which is 90 percent faster. The timing of the new Mac mini launch matches the Yosemite launch so the desktop will be running Apple's latest operating system right out of the box.

"People love Mac mini. It's a great first Mac or addition to your home network, and the new Mac mini is a nice upgrade packed into an incredibly compact design," Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a press statement, Thursday. "With the latest CPU and graphics, faster Wi-Fi, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, OS X Yosemite, and starting at just $499, the new Mac mini is the best value ever."

The new Mac mini packed in a sleek aluminium enclosure is highly energy efficient and comes in three different configuration models. The basic Mac mini runs a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.7GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive storage and an Intel HD Graphics 5000. The mid-variant will feature a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1GHz, 8GB Ram, 1TB hard drive storage and Intel Iris graphics. Finally, the high-end model and the priciest Mac mini will feature a 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3GHz, 8GB memory, 1TB Fusion Drive storage and same Intel Iris graphics.

All Mac mini models include four USB 3 ports, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, a HDMI port and wireless transmission through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The basic Mac mini gets more affordable now with just $499. The mid-variant with almost high-end specs will sell for $699 and the high-end model carries a price tag of $999. The new Mac mini is up for grabs on the Apple Online Store.
