The “Game of Thrones” flashback occurring in season five might have something to do with Tywin Lannister
During an interview with MTV, Charles Dance confirmed he wasn’t finished with the HBO series just yet.
"I'm not completely missing out on the next series. You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister,” he said.
Some fans assumed they would show Tywin during a funeral scene as the showrunners did with King Joffrey’s final episode. Many sites are now speculating Dance’s return to season five could be to do a flashback with young Cersei.
[Warning: book spoilers ahead!]
When Cersei was a young girl, she met a woman named Maggy the Frog, who possessed magical powers and the ability to look into Cersei’s future. Maggy predicted Cersei would marry a king, outlive all her children, be replaced by a younger woman and die by the hand of her younger brother.
Cersei was not alone in when she saw Maggy; her friend Melara Hetherspoon came with her and they promised each other they wouldn’t take about the prophecies. However, Melara died shortly after their visit, which Maggy predicted would happen.
The novel doesn’t make it clear if Cersei killed Melara, but it’s assumed she didn’t trust her friend could keep such a secret. While Tommen and Myrcella are both alive, Cersei sees Margarey Tyrell as one of the prophecies against her.
Cersei goes to great lengths to take away Margarey’s power, but it ends up backfiring against her. In season five, fans can expect to see Cersei’s penance walk, her punishment for attempting to lie to the High Septon about Margarey’s alleged crimes. (Click here to view photos of the scene)
Unfortunately for Cersei, Jaime seems to be a little busy in Dorne and unable to help his twin sister. Check out a scene from “Game of Thrones” season five in the video below.
