Lindsey Vonn Drug Tested By USADA During CFDA Fashion Awards

Looks like Major League Baseball officials aren't the only ones adamant on catching players using performance-enhancing drugs.

Lindsey Vonn's fashion night out took a detour to the bathroom at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards at the Lincoln Center on Monday night.

Officials from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency escorted the famous skier to the bathroom to collect a urine sample. In accordance to USDA protocols, the sample was sent to a WADA-accredited laboratory lab and results were not immediately available.

According to the New York Post, designer Cynthia Rowley allowed the sample collectors into the event, and the process took less than five minutes.

USADA confirmed the test in the following statement:

Lindsey Vonn has participated in the USADA out-of-competition testing pool for more than 12 years. As part of her participation, she provided USADA with her location information indicating she would be in New York and we performed a test collection on her there. We appreciate her professionalism and for accommodating this process, which at times can be inconvenient.

This isn't an unusual process for Olympic athletes. The USDA requires athletes to notify them of their whereabouts as they are subject to random testing regardless of their location.

Lewis Kay, Vonn's spokesman, told the Associated Press that the test "wasn't a big deal to the skier."

"She understands it is part of the job," Kay told The Associated Press in an email statement on Wednesday.

The CFDA awards is fashion's equivalent to the Oscars. The event's organizers were aware that Vonn had been tested.

"We appreciate her professionalism and for accommodating this process, which at times can be inconvenient," USADA spokeswoman Annie Skinner said.

Vonn won the gold medal in the downhill at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, and is expected to compete in the 2014 Games in Russia.
