Two Oklahoma teens are dead after they lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a pond on Thursday night, Kfor reported.
The car drove into a 12 - foot deep pond in Oklahoma City, and emergency crews responded after receiving a 911 call about a car submerged in water. The car was speeding and lost control when it hit a dead end curve, police said.
Three people were inside the vehicle at the time of impact, but one was able to swim to safety. The man who got out tried to swim to the car to rescue his friends, but couldn't get deep enough.
Marlin J. Green and Charles E. Huddleston, both 18, died in the crash, KOCO reported. The third passenger who escaped had just bought the car and let Green take it for a spin through the neighborhood, police said.
Evidence appears to show that Green tried to stop the vehicle when he realized he hit a dead end, but wasn't able to stop in time.
Despite their efforts Green and Huddleston couldn't swim and drowned when the car sank to the bottom of the man - made pond.
