NFL: Donovan McNabb Rips Jay Cutler and Tony Romo

Donovan McNabb has filled his post-playing time by rehashing old wounds with the Washington Redskins and criticizing just about every current NFL quarterback. This week, McNabb has his sights set on Jay Cutler and Tony Romo.

Thursday, the six-time Pro Bowler ripped both quarterbacks with a single comment.

"He's [Cutler] the Tony Romo of the Midwest," McNabb said on the Kap and Haugh sports talk radio show. "Can he play in this league? Absolutely, he's proven that. But a quarterback is measured by your body of work, meaning your wins and losses record, the numbers you put up. And the end-all be-all is how many playoff wins do you have? How many playoff appearances do you have? If you only have one to show for almost a decade of play that means you can't lead your team to the playoffs."

Cutler is 1-1 in his sole post-season experience from 2010. Romo has been to the playoffs three times and has a 1-3 record overall. McNabb made five trips to the NFC championship game and one to the Super Bowl, finishing 9-7 in the post-season in 13 seasons.

"The question is why [can't you lead your team to the playoffs]?" McNabb continued. "Because you're so talented, the potential is there, but why haven't you been able to do it? You can only say for so long that it's been the talent. They have some talent around Cutler, that's never been the issue. Now can you put it all together? To be honest, the answer is no."

Post-season success is undoubtedly an important marker when discussing a quarterback's career. But both the Bears (3-3) and the Cowboys (5-1) have a real shot at making the playoffs this season. Perhaps, both quarterbacks can begin to change McNabb's opinion as early as this January.
