'Biggest Loser' Star Jillian Michaels Uncomfortable Discussing Sexuality

Jillian Michaels, the former "Biggest Loser" trainer opened up about life after the reality show and her sexuality in an interview for Health magazine, but said she struggles with talking about being gay comfortably despite being in a relationship with a woman, the Huffington Post reported on Friday.

"I don't know that I am [comfortable talking about being gay] now, to be honest with you. The gay thing has always been hard for me. When Heidi and I are out and somebody older asks, 'Are you sisters?' I say, 'We're friends.' I guess it comes from thinking that they will be shocked or disturbed. Look, I wish I had some strapping football player husband. It would be such a dream to be 'normal' like that, but I'm just not."

Michaels first came out to the media in a 2010 edition of Ladies Home Journal when she said she believes in healthy love, and whether she falls in love with a woman or man, it would be "awesome."

Heidi Rhoades, Michaels' partner, gave birth to a baby boy in 2010 and adopted a child from Haiti two weeks later.

But in an interview with South Florida Gay News this month, the fitness guru appeared to be more comfortably talking about her life as a gay woman. She said she's dated men in the past, but was never "in the closet." She added that no one seemed to pay any attention to her sexuality until she had children with Rhoades, who has always been private and didn't necessarily want to make a big statement.

"To me it's like I am who I am - we are all people. I don't really define myself with a label, but you know we're a family that has a black daughter and a Latin son and we're two moms so to me I really try to look at people as people without putting us in subcultures," She told SFGN.
