'Batman V. Superman' Movie: Jena Malone Joins 'Dawn of Justice' Cast, But Not As Robin? (RUMORS)

Jena Malone could be joining the “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” production, but her role may not be as obvious as fans believe.

Multiple sources closed to the production have confirmed Malone will be featured in the film. However, the sources are unsure Malone will play Carrie Kelly, the female Robin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The rumors exploded when WILX-10 reported a source that was an extra in the movie claimed Malone is playing Robin. The “Hunger Games” actress also recently dyed her hair red, which happens to be the hair color of Carrie Kelly.

It also doesn’t help Batman actor Ben Affleck confirmed director Zack Snyder’s vision for the film was heavily influenced by “The Dark Knight” series. Carrie Kelly first appeared in the “The Dark Knight” comics, so it’s not such a big stretch for diehard fans to assume Malone is Robin.

“I will say that I think Zack was heavily influenced by that ['Dark Knight Returns'],” Affleck told MTV. “I think everyone’s heavily influenced by that. It’s the seminal work, right? I don’t think there’s any of these [Batman movies] that have been made without drawing from that book because it’s so good. And I think if you’re smart, you steal from the best.”

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until the film is released on March 25, 2016 to see if Robin will be making an appearance in the latest DC franchise installment.

Warner Bros. has yet to announce Malone’s casting, but has confirmed their worst kept secret. “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has signed on Jason Momoa to play their Aquaman in the DC franchise. Momoa will also star in his own standalone film.
