It's the time of year (not long before the holiday shopping season) for another "Call of Duty" game to be unleashed on the barely-able-to-wait public. This one has real Hollywood clout behind it, as Oscar winner Kevin Spacey plays a major role in the game's narrative. It would be more interesting if Spacey was an actual playable character, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. Such is life.
"Call of Duty: Advance Warfare" is this year's entry into the well-established franchise, and a new "Gameplay Launch Trailer" hit the internet today. And, as one would expect, it looks very "Call of Duty-ish." Check it out for yourself below:
"Politicians don't know how to solve problems...I do," Spacey's character, Johnathan Irons, the head of a PMC (Private Military Corporation) called Atlas, emphatically intones in the minute long glimpse at the game's frenetic gameplay. It appears as though Irons idea of problem solving involves blowing up many, many things using soldiers in high-powered exoskeletons. That kind of problem solving should work well in a "Call of Duty" game.
This is the initial "Call of Duty" game developed on Activision's new, three-year cycle for the wildly popular franchise. When this new publishing agenda was announced earlier this year, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said then that: "This move will allow developers to have extra time to not only create new features to help push the brand forward, but also so they can spend more time polishing each game," according to Gamespot.
"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" will be on November 4 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. For those with the foresight to preorder their copy, it will unlock a day earlier on November 3 through the "Day Zero Edition" program.
