Chrysler has released the pricing of the most powerful production sedan in the world, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat . In an official press release Friday, the car maker announced the new Charger SRT Hellcat will cost $64,990, inclusive of the $1,700 gas guzzler tax and $995 destination fees.
The powerful sedan in the Charger series was unveiled in August and comes equipped with a 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8 engine pushing down 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. With a title of "world's quickest, fastest and most powerful rear-wheel-drive sedan," the only-four-door muscle car will go into production in early 2015. The supercharged machine is capable of accelerating 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph, Dodge says.
"With the new 2015 Charger, we're pushing the boundaries of what a full-size sedan can or should be even further," Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of Dodge and SRT, said in a press statement, Friday. "We've seriously modernized the look and feel and added a standard eight-speed transmission across the lineup. The Charger is now tighter, leaner and more athletic, without sacrificing the proportions, performance, driving dynamics, attitude and price that attracted customers in the first place."
If the high-price of the latest Charger SRT Hellcat seems too high, Dodge has you covered with entry-level models with downgraded specs. The base 2015 Dodge Charger SE equipped with Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, 5-inch touch screen, 7-inch color display, leather wrapped steering cover, 17-inch aluminum alloys among other standard features, costs $28,990.
The next model in the series, Charger SXT, draws power from the same engine with added features like a larger 8.4-inch touch screen, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and LED fog lamps is for $30,990. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant for both SE and SXT will cost an additional $3,000.
Dodge is also offering an upgraded Charger R/T model for $33,990, which includes a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine capable of producing 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, 20-inch alloys and a rear spoiler. Buyers can opt for the Scat Pack model for an additional $7,000. The extra cost covers advanced features such as four-piston Brembo brakes, 20x9-inch wide wheels and a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine to set out 485hp and 475 lb-ft. The Charger R/T Scat Pack will cost $40,990, inclusive of destination fees.
For further upgrades, Dodge offers the SRT 392, which stands between the SRT Hellcat and R/T variants. This particular model costs $48,380 for 6-piston Brembo brakes in the front, new drive modes, all-season Pirelli P-zero tires, the car maker said.
The 2015 Dodge Charger series is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2015.
