You have to respect a passionate fan base and the lengths they will go to in order to support their team.
With the World Series just days away, local radio stations in San Francisco have banded together and agreed to ban any song that mentions their opponents in any way, including Lorde's hit single "Royals."
KFOG and 96.5 KOIT are removing the Grammy-winning track from their playlist until the World Series concludes, Yahoo! Sports reported.
The pop star admitted that her hit song was partly inspired by the Kansas City baseball team. This did not sit well with San Francisco Giants' fans.
"According to a website belonging to a San Francisco station, 96.5 KOIT, employees there have received numerous requests via emails and social media asking the station to ban the song 'Royals' by recording artist Lorde until the 'San Francisco Giants win the World Series.'
'Why are you playing Royals by Lorde still, are you a Royals supporter or Giants?' wrote one listener.
'Go Giants! KOIT why are you still playing Royals by Lorde? #gottogo" wrote another.
The program director of the station responded by saying: "Our listeners told us to do it, so we did it! As of 4pm today we've removed Lorde- Royals from the our playlist until the end of the World Series. Go Giants, beat the Royals!"
"Royals" will be off the air waves of both stations for at least the next week.
On the other side of the crazy and awesome things that fans do, a Kansas City-based musical artist released a Royals-themed parody to "Royals."
