Paul McCartney Proves He’s Got Class And a Sense of Humor

Just before Paul McCartney performed last week in Dallas, an encounter with a manicurist provided telling insight into the former Beatles' character. The meeting of the two revealed that Sir Paul truly has the class of a knight, in addition to a healthy dose of a sense of humor.

Alan Peppard, a popular columnist for the Dallas Morning News, provided details of the Oct. 13 meet up of the superstar and the manicurist in his Monday (Oct. 20) column.

"Though we can't reveal the name of the manicurist or the salon, we are delighted by the story of the 32-year-old who was sent to the Dallas hotel room of Sir Paul McCartney last week to put a heavy varnish on his nails, which helps his guitar and bass playing," he wrote.

"We are told that Sir Paul became intrigued/pleased that she had absolutely no idea who he was."

Peppard then explained that McCartney asked the manicurist what kind of music she liked.

"Country," she answered.

So, McCartney approached the conversation from a different angle.

"He named some of his songs and nothing rang a bell until he mentioned 'Let It Be,'" Peppard added.

Still, it did not register with her that the man she was talking to was a musical icon. A legend. A Beatle.

Then McCartney's true - and wonderful - self came out.

"We are told that he offered her tickets and backstage passes to his show, which, after some hemming and hawing, she finally accepted," Peppard wrote.

Wonder if McCartney closed the door to his hotel room after the woman left and thought, "Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on?"
