Pew Research Study: How Americans View News

Liberals and conservatives view the news so differently that some haven't even heard of some of the news sources that the opposite party frequents, according to a recent survey.

The Pew Research Center released an extensive survey on the news-gathering habits of nearly 3,000 American participants.

Liberals tend to stick to a handful of different news sources - unlike conservatives who are more likely to stick to one outlet. Forty-seven percent of conservatives say they get the bulk of their news from Fox News.

Liberals are also more trusting of the news (especially government-sponsored outlets), more likely to unfriend you on Facebook if you don't share their interests.

The survey found the close friends of conservatives are more likely to share their same interests.

Pew Research also managed to find some practices that are shared on both sides of the political spectrum.

Both consistent liberals and consistent conservatives are more likely to drive a news-based conversation than someone who stands on middle ground.

The Wall Street Journal is the most trusted news outlet in the nation, according to the survey. Google News was a close second.

Both political parties also appeared to have a lot of trust in a few London-based outlets including BBC, The Guardian, and Economist.
