Christian Bale Confirmed As Steve Jobs In Upcoming Biopic

Aaron Sorkin squeezes two to three times the amount of dialogue into his scripts compared to other screenwriters. His adaptation for the upcoming Steve Jobs film needed an accomplished actor who could handle all the language.

Sorkin and director Danny Boyle put their faith in Christian Bale for the job.

"He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined," Sorkin told Bloomberg Television. "There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."

The "Dark Knight" star didn't even have to audition for the role of the Apple co-founder.

"Well, there was a meeting," Sorkin said. "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale."

David Fincher, originally signed on to direct the film, also wanted Bale for the role. The director backed out of the project in April after he made "aggressive demands for compensation and control," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fincher directed Sorkin's penned script for "The Social Network" in 2010. The film won three Oscars and grossed $225 million worldwide.

Bale won the part over other big names including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Boyle reportedly approached DiCaprio, who he directed in the 2000 film "The Beach."

Sorkin adapted the still untitled screenplay from the Walter Isaacson's biography on Jobs. Scott Rudin will produce with Film 360's Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon.

Filming will begin in the next couple months, according to The Verge. No release date has been announced.

Bale will next appear in "Exodus: Gods and Kings" on Dec. 12.

The third and final season of Sorkin's "The Newsroom" will premiere on Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
