The Brooklyn Nets reportedly are close to completing a trade to send guard Marquis Teague to the Philadelphia 76ers. The move, according to Yahoo Sports, fits Philadelphia's M.O. of testing out young players while the team rebuilds and seeing who's worth keeping long-term.
Philadelphia is looking to add Teague to their backcourt, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
"The Philadelphia 76ers are in talks with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire guard Marquis Teague, league sources told Yahoo Sports," Wojnarowski wrote Thursday. "The Nets wouldn't receive anything of significance in return for Teague, sources said."
As for why, Wojnarowski added: "During this rebuilding period, the 76ers have been using their roster to run through young players who could turn into keepers."
ESPN confirmed the report and cited a source as saying the deal is "most likely" going to happen. The purported deal would also slim Brooklyn's roster down to 15 players.
The Chicago Bulls selected Teague with the No. 29 pick of the 2012 draft. He spent most of the 2013-14 season in the D-League before being traded to Brooklyn in January.
He played 24 minutes in the preseason against Boston, recording 10 points, four assists and six turnovers.
