Lyndsy Fonseca previous credits in "Kick-Ass" and "Nikita" show she knows how to kick butt. The skill will surely come in handy when she befriends Agent Peggy Carter in the new ABC series "Marvel's Agent Carter."
Fonseca will round out the "Agent Carter" cast as Angie Martinelli, according to Marvel. Her character is an aspiring actress living in 1946 New York and will become fast friends with Peggy as both are looking for peace in the post-World War II era.
"'Marvel's Agent Carter' opens up an exciting world of new chracters for us," Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television, said. "Lyndsy brings a warmth and humanity to Angie, who'll be the friend Peggy needs if she's to survive the dangers that lie ahead."
"Agent Carter" will blend cast members from "Captain America: The First Avenger" and new additions working alongside Carter at the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). Haley Atwell will reprise her role as Agent Carter along with Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark.
Shea Whigham will lead the SSR operations as Chief Roger Dooley. Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokag will play Carter's fellow SSR agents Jack Thompson and Daniel Sousa, respectively.
"Agent Carter" will immediately follow up on the events after "Captain America" when Steve Rogers put his plane down in the Arctic. Carter will have to balance her administrative work at SSR while going on secret missions for Stark.
Fonseca recently starred on The CW series "Nikita" for all four seasons. She played Ted Mosby's daughter in "How I Met Your Mother," but she filmed all her scenes for the series in the first season with her TV brother David Henrie. The actress also starred in both "Kick-Ass" movies and "Hot Tub Time Machine."
"Marvel's Agent Carter" will premiere at midseason on ABC.
