Texas authorities have arrested an HIV-positive man they say raped a baby and a teenage girl, infecting them both with the virus and other sexually transmitted diseases, KPRC reported.
David Richard Wilson, a convicted sex offender, was charged with sexual assault of a child and super aggravated sexual assault of a child for allegedly raping a 23-month-old girl and a 14-year-old girl, who is pregnant with Wilson's child. He is expected to appear in court on Friday.
Court documents show that in November 2013, doctors found a growth on the baby's genitals after her family admitted her to Memorial Hermann hospital, the station reported. Doctors conducted tests and found the child was infected with herpes, chlamydia and HIV.
The baby "had to have been sexually assaulted as evidenced by the presence of three sexually transmitted diseases," an unnamed doctor told investigators, KPRC reported. The girl underwent reconstructive surgery to her private parts due to an infection.
Court records also indicate the girl's parents sent her to live with relatives in Houston, Texas, due to problems stemming from drug use, according to KTRK. Investigators tested all four people who were living with the child. Wilson, who is the baby's uncle, was the only one who was HIV positive.
The other alleged victim, a 14-year-old girl, is the daughter of Wilson's ex-girlfriend. The teenager told a Children's Assessment Center employee in September she was pregnant and that she and the father, Wilson, have been having sex for two years.
Tests on the teen also came back positive for herpes, chlamydia and HIV, KTRK reported.
It is not clear why Wilson was not arrested at the time investigators learned he was HIV positive when they tested the baby's family.
Wilson served four years in prison following a 2005 sentence for sexually assaulting another teenager. He is being held without bond at Harris County Jail.
