It's been 12 years since Shania Twain released her last studio album "Up!," but the country music superstar reveals she has a new album "in the works" and that she's anxious to get out on tour.
Twain, who has been performing the Shania: Still the One show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the past two years, broke the news about her new music and tour to the Las Vegas Sun.
"I am in the middle of putting the album together, and that's very exciting," Twain declared. "That's a whole new world there for me because that took a lot of courage, too. Just to really dive in there and expose my songwriting for the first time after a long time to my peers and have to sit there and get the feedback and be brave enough to do that."
Twain became a household name in 1995, when her album "The Woman In Me" racked up 12 million in sales. She received four Grammy nominations the following year, winning for Best Country Album. Powered by the hit singles "From This Moment On," "You're Still the One" and "That Don't Impress Me Much," Twain's "Come On Over" became the fifth-best selling album of all time. The album sold 34 million copies worldwide, which made Twain the second woman to have two albums sell more than 10 million copies each. Whitney Houston accomplished the same feat.
In her Las Vegas Sun interview, Twain also talked about touring again.
"I'm going to put some tour dates together and put it on the road and do some concerts because it was very exciting going to Calgary and Prince Edward Island recently. Being with these giant crowds was very exciting, and it's motivated me to carry on doing that."
The songstress added that she's not ready "to leave the stage just yet."
Twain will end her two-year residency at Caesars Palace on Dec. 13.
