Jason Aldean: ‘Old Boots, New Dirt’ Scores All-Genre No. 1

It's been a phenomenal week for Jason Aldean. His sixth studio album, "Old Boots, New Dirt," just kicked its way to the top of the charts. And the album made streaming history to boot.

"Old Boots, New Dirt," captured the No. 1 position on Billboard's all-genre chart and, since the album's Oct. 7 release it has broken - shattered, actually - the record for both first-day and first-week streams by a country album in Spotify's history.

"With this new album, it's definitely the same old me. But, I like to mix things up and try new sounds and go into territory I've never explored before, so I do a little bit of that, too. That's why I named the album 'Old Boots, New Dirt,'" explains Aldean, the Boot reported.

Critics across the country are declaring that the country star has it a musical home run with his new album. The New York Times called it "compelling," Newsday declared that it "hooks you from the first listen" and the Associated Press stated, "The album is his most ambitious to date." Billboard tagged it as "musically adventurous...'Old Boots, New Dirt' shows just how far he has come as a vocalist."

Produced by Michael Knox, the 15-song disc was recorded with members of Aldean's long time touring band. The album packs the hard-rocking punch reflected in his songs since his first single, 2005's "Hicktown." The new album received a lot of push from the No.1 lead single, "Burnin' It Down."

Jason Aldean has sold over nine million albums and has racked up 13 No.1 songs. He is currently on his 2014 Burn It Down tour, which saw him play five stadium dates in addition to sold-out shows in the country's biggest amphitheaters and arenas.

"I'm almost 10 years into this crazy ride, but in a lot of ways, I feel like I'm just gettin' started," adds Aldean.
