Houston Texans star J.J. Watt had a message for Tennessee Titans rookie Zach Mettenberger: Welcome to the NFL. Watt mocked the quarterback by pretending to take a selfie, which Mettenberger is now notorious for doing, after sacking him for a second time on Sunday.
Watt welcomed Mettenberger to the NFL with two sacks, one forced fumble and one batted pass. After the second sack, Watt pretended to take a selfie as part of his celebration.
The selfie mime was a knock on Mettenberger, who has a growing reputation for taking selfies despite making his first career start on Sunday. Mettenberger also posted another selfie less than two hours before Sunday's kickoff.
After the Texans' 30-16 blowout of the Titans, Watt elaborated on the message he wanted to send to the rookie.
"It's just kind of a reminder, this is the National Football League, not high school," Watt said, via ESPN. "Welcome to the show. ...
"I just, I take my job very seriously. If I was a rookie quarterback being named the starter for the first time in the league, I feel like I'd be a little bit more focused than that. Maybe he'll learn from it, maybe not. We won the game, so that's all that matters."
