"Through The Wire" isn't just a fantastic Kanye West song. It's also a notable fantasy football strategy. You never know where success will come from. Alfred Morris, Cam Newton and Justin Forsett are all examples of successful players who could be found on a few waiver wires in recent years.
Here are three free agents on the waiver wire to pick up right now:
1. Allen Robinson
Robinson is owned in just 3.8% of ESPN leagues. I have a feeling that is about to change. Since Week 2, Robinson has had no less than four receptions in every game. Also, since Week 2, he's recorded at least 50 yards in every game except one.
Robinson has two straight games where he earned a touchdown, which is nice. But what is even more encouraging is his 17 combined targets over that span. Robinson is the guy quarterback Blake Bortles looks for, especially downfield as he's totaled more fantasy points on vertical passes than Roddy White and Torrey Smith. While he may not be a fantasy MVP, it's clear that the second-round rookie has talent and is worth a look.
2. Denard Robinson
Woah, two Jaguars players on this list?! Did someone slip something into my coffee this morning?
Robinson is still only owned in roughly 16% of ESPN leagues. He's had two straight 100-plus yards performances, which means two straight double-digit fantasy games. Robinson is the lead guy in Jacksonville's backfield, and while I have my doubts that he can hold up over the long term, there is no denying that he's got some spring in his step. Robinson has busted some impressive runs including a 41-yarder against Miami yesterday.
I think it would behoove the Jags to have Robinson split carries with Toby Gerhart once he returns from injury. Robinson has a slight frame and probably can't take the pounding consistently. It's a small sample size, but in the only two games where Robinson has really received significant action in his career, he's certainly opened some eyes with his 5.9 yards per carry average. I think a future backfield time-share could help Robinson stay fresh and effective.
3. Josh Brown
Man, is this guy up and down. Three total touchdowns in his first three games before falling off the map. But yesterday's five catch, 119-yard and one touchdown performance has him back on the fantasy radar. His 10 targets tied with Larry Fitzgerald for tops on the team and Brown easily outshined No. 2 receiver Michael Floyd's zero catch day (if it sounds like I'm bitter, it's because I am. I'm a Floyd owner. *Angry Emoticon*). Would I feel comfortable starting him next week against Dallas? No, probably not. But he's a young guy with speed, which is always enticing.
