The U.S. spends more on their space station than every other country combined, according to a new study.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) looked at the spending of 39 countries in the world on their respective space stations for the study.
The United States spent just under $40 billion in 2013, which is more than every other country combined, reports Tech Times.
China is in second on the list, although they are spending less than half of what the U.S. is on their space station. Their budget is just over $10 billion.
America's high-costing space station is being used mostly to fund NASA's programs and activities, Tech Times reports. Of the annual budget about $18 billion went to NASA.
The U.S. space budget also funds such as the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and Department of Transportation, reports Tech Times.
Lately the U.S. is depending on Russia's (who's budget is about $8 billion) rockets and capsules to fly astronauts to and from the International Space Station.
The findings were published last week in "The Space Economy At Last."
