David Ferrer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga meet on Friday for the 2013 French Open semifinals. The start time is TBD, following the semifinal bout between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. You can tune into ESPN or you can watch the Ferrer vs. Tsonga live stream here.
No. 6 seed Tsonga surprised many by upsetting No. 2 seed Roger Federer earlier this week in the quarterfinals, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. Tsonga excited the home crowd by giving them the possibility of a Frenchman winning at Roland Garros for the first time in 30 years.
"Everybody's expecting a lot from me since the beginning of the tournament," he told reporters. "Not only this tournament, but every day. So I'm used to it."
He'll enter the semifinals with confidence, having his fifth consecutive straight-sets win under his belt, SI.com reports. Tsonga faces the man who some consider to be the hardest-working tennis player not to a win a major. Friday marks Ferrer's sixth career Grand Slam semifinal, but he isn't patting himself on the back yet.
"I do realize it's not the first round of a small tournament," he told reporters after defeating Tommy Robredo in the quarterfinals. "It's a semifinal. But I'm not going to start dreaming and celebrating before it's time. It's one match. That's it."
Ferrer has won two of their previous three matches. Defeating Tsonga again will earn the 31-year old Spaniard his first French Open final appearance. It'll be no easy task given Tsonga's play as of late, and the Paris crowd certainly won't help.
SI.com predicts Tsonga to win in three sets.
