Hillary Clinton made a controversial speech about the economy Friday while supporting Massachusetts Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley.
"Don't let anybody, don't let anybody tell you that, ah, you know, it's corporations and businesses that create jobs," Clinton said in her speech. "You know that old theory, trickle-down economics. That has been tried, that has failed. It has failed rather spectacularly."
Critics turned to Twitter to discuss the controversial statement:
Hillary Clinton said "businesses don't create jobs." Coming from a person who has never worked for a business.

Despite all the backlash, the New York Times called it "a variation on a popular [Elizabeth] Warren theme." Warren is the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party.
In the aftermath of Clinton's statement one of her aides said she was taken out of context and was actually referring to tax breaks for corporations, reports Politico.
