High School Sweethearts Found Dead

Colorado Police are investigating the death of two high school sweethearts found inside a home early Sunday morning, 9News reported.

A welfare check was called in for Kacey Heberlein, 24, and her boyfriend, Chris Bankert, 26, because Heberlein failed to show up to a meeting with a family member, leading the family to call the police. Concerned friends also called with the same request.

After not getting a response the first time they arrived at the home, police brought in the Douglas County Regional SWAT team, who discovered the two bodies inside. It's still unclear how they died, Westword.com reported.

Friends confirmed that the couple had been together since they were teenagers. Though Heberlein attended Bear Creek High School as a senior, there is no record on Bankert graduating in the county.

Heberlein's friend described the woman as "really funny, really down to earth, cool to hang around. She loved hockey," 9 News reported.

After an autopsy on Monday, a coroner will determine the cause of death.

On her Facebook page, Heberlein showed her love for hockey in her cover photo and profile photo. She stated she enjoyed music like Bob Marley, Gwen Stefani and her band, No Doubt.

According to a life event listed on her page, her and Bankert got engaged in 2010.

Bankert also appears to have enjoyed hockey, 'liking' the Colorado Avalanche team on the social networking website. His music interests included Drake, Rob Zombie and Iron Maiden.
