Supermodel turned actress Cara Delevingne could be the last addition to DC’s “Suicide Squad” movie.
Latino Review reports Warner Bros. is eyeing Delevinge to play a female villain, possibly (but not limited to) Harley Quinn. The film is expected to hit theaters some time in 2016, so a casting announcement may not be far away.
“Could it be Harley Quinn? I'm not sure at press time. She certainly looks the part plus Harley has a long association with the Suicide Squad, however earlier drafts of the script didn't have Harley included,” El Mayimbe wrote in a post for Latino Review.
“That all can change since it is expected that David Ayer will take a crack at the script. Will fill you guys in as more develops and I learn more. Suicide Squad is about a group of supervillains that are brought together to tackle high-risk black ops missions for the government.”
Delevinge joins Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Ryan Gosling in the list of actors with rumored connections to the production. Variety also reports “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor Jesse Eisenberg may be reprising his role as Lex Luthor in the “Suicide Squad” movie.
Eisenberg talked to TotalFilm back in August about his new DC villain role. The 30-year-old actor explained he was excited to read Chris Terrio’s script and the movie will not disappoint fans.
"There are some indications of how the character should behave based on the script, and then as actor makes it his or her own," Eisenberg said. "I got to know one of the writers really well, Chris Terrio, and we were able to discuss things at length and figure out who this person is to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology. I can only say I've been asked to play an interesting role: a complicated, challenging person."
