Lenovo is looking to catch up to competitors in the fitness tracking market with its new smartband.
The device, called the Lenovo Smartband SW-B100, comes with abilities seen on other fitness bands, such as tracking steps walked, distance covered, heart rate and other factors in exercise, according to CNET. It can also track how well the user sleeps, in addition to recording data about activity and inactivity during the day in graphs covering days, weeks and months.
The Chinese tech company included one uncommon high-tech feature to help get ahead of rivals, which is the ability to unlock your computer. This device can automatically log the user in on your laptop or PC, negating the need to type in your password.
Lenovo also included features found more often in smartwatches rather than fitness bands, such as showing call and text alerts, along with appointments and reminders to work out. The company said users can customize notifications "to improve both work and life efficiency," CNET reported.
The SW-B100, which will work with Android 4.3 and above and iOS 7.1 and above, is listed as a device "for young people who take care of their personal health and are interested in new tech trend products."
Lenovo faces several big names as it tries to make a name for itself in the smartband industry, such as the Fitbit Flex, Samsung Gear Fit, Razer Nabu and Jawbone UP24, CNET reported.
The company's website shows the device will be available in blue and orange. Lenovo has yet to reveal the release date and price for its new smartband.
