George R.R. Martin is still hard at work writing his upcoming novel in the "A Song of Ice Fire" series, "The Winds of Winter." The upcoming story doesn't have a release date just yet but Martin dropped a new book, "The World of Ice and Fire," on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
In an anticipation of the release, Martin did an interview with 92Y to reveal a few spoilers from the book. According to MTV, "The World of Ice of Fire" contains more than 300 pages about "the never-before-seen history of Westeros and the lands beyond."
Here are a few pieces of information Martin revealed during the interview, according to MTV.
-The "world" is big and getting bigger with the new book exploring thousands of years of history of Westeros, Essos and other lands close by. Martin told the audience that he doesn't plan on revealing everything in "The World of Ice and Fire" and will save some information about Westeros history for the remaining two books, "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring."
-The upcoming novel will be written from the perspective of newbie Maester Yandel, from the Citadel. Yandel's goal: to chart the "history of deeds gallant and wicked, peoples familiar and strange, and lands near and far," MTV reports.
-"The World of Ice and Fire" will also include some really cool artwork including an image of the Iron Throne by painter Marc Simonetti. (Check out some of the artwork here).
-Martin teased that a new religion could come to light, called R'hllor (aka Lord of Light)
-The new book will explain to fans why Holder - real name Walder - was given that nickname.
-And last but not least. Martin said he plans on releasing "The GRRMarillion," which will go into a lot more detail than "The World of Ice and Fire."
