A Seattle grandfather shot and killed his daughter, granddaughter and himself inside a home on Monday, Yahoo news reported.
A 10-year-old boy inside the home phoned 911 at about 8:15 p.m. and told the operator that his grandfather threatened his sister and mother with a gun before he fired at them, according to the Seattle Police Department.
As the grandfather, said to be in his 60s, shot himself, the boy ran from the home to safety. The identities of everyone involved were not released and details about the crime have not become available. The granddaughter is said to have been in her teens.
The murder-suicide comes just days after 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg shot his cousins and friends on Friday morning after inviting them to meet him for lunch at Matysville-Pilchuck High School in Seattle.
Zoe Galasso, 14, died at the scene after suffering a shot to the head. On Sunday, Gia Soriano succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital, while three other remains in serious condition, the Washington Post reported.
"The question everybody wants is, 'Why?'" Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary said, according to the Associated Press. "I don't know that the 'why' is something we can provide."
Though Fryberg's motive is still a mystery to investigators, updates on his social media pages suggest that he had recently becoming enraged in angst. Friends have said that a breakup may have played a role in the shooting.
