Chris Young And Kidde ‘Spotlight Fire Safety’ In TV Campaign

Country star Chris Young is teaming up with Kidde, a leading manufacturer of residential fire alarms, in a series of TV commercials designed to shine a "Spotlight on Fire Safety." The Grammy-nominated singer revealed that he got a text while filming the TV ads that brought the concept of fire safety home to him in a personal way.

"It really hit home for me the day we filmed the commercial when one of my best friends texted me that he had just gotten his dream job as a firefighter with the Clarksville (Tennessee) Fire Department," Young said. "I'm glad to know I can help keep him and other firefighters safer at work with Kidde's 'Spotlight on Fire Safety.'"

The televised ad campaign is built around Young and showcases how Kidde's Worry-Free sealed-battery smoke and carbon monoxide alarms help to provide peace of mind and help keep consumers safe - and there is a CMA Awards connection to the televised ad campaign, according to the press release.

The 30 and 15-second spots with Young were filmed on location with the Nashville Fire Department. The spots will air on ABC stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Houston, Raleigh, Fresno and Nashville beginning Oct. 27 in the weeks surrounding The 48th CMA Awards on ABC on Nov. 5.

In addition, Young, whose current hit single is "Lonely Eyes," and Kidde representatives will join national and local fire service leaders for an official "kick off" the morning of The CMA Awards in Nashville.

"Working with Chris Young and the Nashville Fire Department was a great experience," said Chris Rovenstine, Kidde's vice president of marketing. "This is our third year locally sponsoring The CMA Awards on ABC. Kidde's mission, to help protect family and property from fire, directly aligns with the core values of many country music fans - family, home and safety. It's a partnership that resonates and that will hopefully help save lives."

The campaign with Young also includes a 30-second public service announcement focusing on simple home fire safety steps:

1. Replace smoke alarms every 10 years. Consider installing smoke alarms with a 10-year sealed-in, tamper-proof battery such as Kidde's Worry-Free alarms.

2. Place fire extinguishers within reach on every level of your home.

3. Install UL-listed CO alarms on each floor and near bedrooms.

4. Create and practice an escape plan with your family.

5. Commit to being a safety hero. Staying fire safe helps keep your family safer and reduces the risk of injury and death to firefighters.
