A Tennessee man who police caught with marijuana told the officers he was the Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington in an attempt to fool them, according to DailyNewsJournal.com.
Justin Lee Seay of Memphis, 21, was being arrested on charges of illegal marijuana possession when he told police he was an actor, DNJ.com reported. Officers say they found several bags of marijuana inside the apartment he was arrested in.
Seay was arrested on Monday night after a noise complaint in the area was made, according to DNJ.com. The officers found out after they arrested him he had already violated probation in a different case.
The officers were responding to a noise complaint in the Colony House Apartments on Huntington Drive, DNJ.com reported.
The officers picked up the strong smell of marijuana and found five people inside Seay's apartment, the Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report said, according to DNJ.com
During the entire arrest process, officers say Seay insisted he was the actor, DNJ.com reported. Seay's true identity only came to light after he was arrested.
After more officers were called to Seay's apartment for a "sweep," the bags of marijuana were found thrown outside one of the bedroom windows that had a broken screen, according to DNJ.com.
The report also stated an officer saw a paper target near the apartment with holes in it, according to DNJ.com. He was booked into Rutherford County jail on early Tuesday morning. His bond was set at $9,500.
