Yesterday, Marvel smacked the fanboys and girls of the world right upside their collective heads with its plans for "Phase 3" in the company's overarching slate of successful comic book film adaptations. According to Marvel, a "Phase 3" will culminate in a grand, two-part Avengers movie titled, "Avengers: Infinity War." And you can watch the teaser trailer for that epic event below:
This "announcement trailer" is what Marvel released during their press day. Obviously, this isn't footage from the actual movies, but the implication is obvious: The Mad Titan, Thanos, has gathered the six Infinity Gems (the stones you've seen people collecting in various after-credits scenes in the Marvel movies) into the Infinity Gauntlet...and now he's indestructible...and he'll be looking to impress the love of his life, Death, by snuffing out the entirety of the Universe because that's just how he rolls.
"Avengers: Infinity War" will be released in two parts on May 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019. One can and should expect big, big things to come out of these movies. And by "big" I mean massive amounts of death and destruction. You have been duly warned, true believers...
