'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' Expected To Take A Slight Hit At Box Office This Year

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” is expected to take a slight hit at the box office opening weekend.

Variety reports the third “Hunger Games” installment will bring in $130 million, about $28 million less than “Catching Fire.” The reason? “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” won’t be released in IMAX format, which reportedly contributes to eight percent of box office revenue.

However, presale tickets for “Mockingjay Part 1” have already surpassed “Catching Fire” first day presale records.

Lionsgate has released the final trailer for the film. The teaser titled “Burn” shows Katniss on the battlefield delivering a message to the Capitol’s President Snow: “If we burn, you burn with us.

In “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1”, Katniss finds herself in District 13 after the Quarter Quell tributes helped her escape from the arena. Katniss’ family is safe in District 13 after the President Snow bombed her home, but her fellow Hunger Games tribute Peeta Mellark is a captive of the Capitol.

Katniss finds herself in a very confusing situation. On one hand, she wants nothing to do with the Rebellion even though she’s become their “Mockingjay.” However, a part of her realizes she has a responsibility to those who sacrificed their lives to change the world.

Katniss knows the only way to save Peeta and countless lives is to rise up against the Capitol, even if it could cost her life.
