Colorado Man Runs Over Own Head After Dropping Cigarette

A Colorado man almost killed himself by accident last weekend when he ran over his own head.

The unidentified man was backing up out of his driveway in Aurora on Sunday morning when the cigarette he was smoking dropped down the front of his jacket, according to Fox 31 Denver.

Fearful of being burned, the man immediately hopped out of his car to shake the cigarette from his jacket. But the car, which was still moving backwards, knocked the driver down and the front left wheel ran over his head.

The victim was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries, but Aurora police told the station he is expected to survive.

Police also said no alcohol or excessive speeding is believed to have contributed to the accident. A male passenger who was with the driver at the time was not harmed, Fox 31 Denver reported.

"We remind drivers of the dangers of distractions and encourage them to eliminate distractions whenever possible, eating, cellphones, reading, smoking, excessively loud music, etc.," police said according to The Denver Post.
