While Florida State is 7-0, the team has gotten more publicity this season for the off-the-field mishaps of quarterback Jameis Winston. He was suspended earlier in the season, but he hasn't missed a beat since returning on Sept. 27. Through the six games he's played in, Winston has compiled for 1,878 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.
His most recent on-the-field heroics came Oct. 18 against Notre Dame, throwing for 273 yards, a pair of touchdowns and one pick in Florida State's 31-27 win. With Notre Dame beaten, Florida State has a relatively smooth road to the end of the regular season and has no more ranked teams on the schedule.
"We don't have anything to prove to anybody," Winston said, via ESPN. "We've just got to keep playing and hopefully things will go our way. But one thing we are consistently proving is that we are winners."
Louisville, though, has the nation's best defense and will likely pose problems for Winston and the Seminoles' offense.
"They're one of the top defenses in the country," said Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher. "They play the run well, play the pass. Create a lot of turnovers."
Fisher also took time to refute a report indicating running back Karlos Williams may be suspended.
"There's another false report, and that's amazing how things happen here," he said last week. "Whoever's got sources and whoever's got rumors needs to check who they are talking to 'cause that is about as far from the truth as there is. Amazing isn't it?"
Williams is being investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department for domestic assault, according to the Associated Press. Florida State could also initiate its own Title IX investigation.
