After a huge offseason, Cavaliers fans finally get to witness the long awaited return of superstar LeBron James. James's decision to return to his hometown team - a decision that brought Kevin Love and a number of veterans along as well - instantly transformed the Cavaliers from a lottery-pick team to a favorite to win the Eastern Conference finals.

For James, who left Cleveland in 2010, opening the season at home is special.

"It means everything to be able to open our NBA campaign here in Cleveland with these fans," James said, via ESPN. "We can't take it for granted. You don't get moments like this, they don't come around every day."

While many are casting expectations of a championship on Cleveland, first-year coach David Blatt doesn't want his team to get ahead of themselves.

"Obviously now that the real games are getting started, we're going to find out," he said. "I thought we showed in preseason that we're a pretty good, competitive group and we played some good teams. But there's a big difference between preseason and regular season for everyone."

New York, meanwhile, heads into Thursday's contest less than 24 hours after their season-opening 104-80 blowout loss to Chicago.

"Embarrassed? No, I am not embarrassed," Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said. "We will get better. Believe that. I know that and we have another shot at it tomorrow night."
