Funimation Acquires Rights to ‘Wanna Be the Strongest in the World!’; Will Release in English in 2015

U.S. anime production company and distributor FUNimation Entertainment announced this week that it has acquired the rights to the women's professional wrestling anime "Wanna Be the Strongest in the World!" The series will receive a home media release, complete with English dubbing, in 2015, as reported by Anime News Network.

The anime is adapted from a manga of the same title released in Japan in December 2010 by ESE and Kiyohito Natsuki. The anime debuted on Oct. 6, 2013 in Japan and was produced by Arms Corporation, the same company that brought us "Elfen Lied," "Queen's Blade," "I''s Pure" and "Master of Martial Hearts." Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired and has since continued to stream it with English subtitles.

The anime centers on Sakura Hagiwara, the central vocalist of idol group Sweet Diva. One day, their manager gives them a new assignment out of the blue: have one or more members of the group become a professional wrestler in the "Berserk" women's professional wrestling organization. The company has a reputation of blurring the line between entertainment and serious - and often pain-inducing - competition. Sakura and her fellow idol Elena volunteer, and they waste no time catching the attention of a very violent and sadistic member of the organization, and not in a good way.

Can Sakura handle her new job while escaping serious injury (or humiliation)? Those who cannot wait to find out can watch the series here on Crunchyroll.

**Warning** This anime contains ecchi content and should not be seen by young adults under 16 years of age.
