Eric Frein, Alleged Cop Killer, Captured in Pennsylvania

Eric Frein, suspected sniper in the Sept. 12 ambush of the state police barracks in Blooming Grove, Pa., was captured Thursday night. The search for one of the F.B.I.'s most wanted lasted nearly two months and came to a close in an abandoned airport hangar in Pocono Township, according to The Pocono Record.

"I can confirm that we have taken Eric Frein into custody," State Police Public Information Officer Connie Devens said, according to the local paper. "Further information will be released at a later time. No further information will be released or confirmed at this time."

Frein is the only suspect in the shooting of two state troopers at the Pike County barracks. Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was seriously wounded. Douglass has since been released from the hospital and is in a medical facility. Dickson left behind a wife and two children.

Frein was taken in alive after being captured by the U.S. Marshal Service at the Birchwood-Pocono Airpark, according to The Pocono Record. Frein came out of the hangar after marshals called to him. No shots were fired.

Frein allegedly has had anti-law enforcement ideals, but the motive for his alleged crime on Sept. 12 is still unknown.

A press conference is expected at 11 p.m. EST.
