If point guard Tony Parker wins the 2013 National basketball Association (NBA) championship with the San Antonio Spurs, he may be jeopardizing a $20 million pay out stemming from a lawsuit according to TMZ.
Parker was reportedly injured at W.i.P Nightclub when singer Chris Brown and rapper Drake allegedly started a dangerous brawl over "Pour It Up" singer Rihanna. The lawsuit lists the night club as the defendants, not Brown or Drake.
The player filed the $20 million lawsuit alleging "the club's security was negligent for allowing a brawl to ever happen." Parker claimed he "suffered lacerations to his cornea" after bottles of alcohol were thrown across the night club and shattered glass got in to his eye.
TMZ reported the lawsuit claims the injury threatened his professional basketball career because he was "halfway through a $50 million contract with the Spurs."
Parker is currently playing in the NBA finals and lifted his team in their victory against the Miami Heat, final score was 92-88. He scored 21 points and dished out six assists in the win.
"We got a little bit lucky in game one," Parker told reporters after the game. "Sometimes that's what it takes to win games. We were just trying to hang. In the third quarter, the same thing. "
According to TMZ, his performance in the game shows his eye injury is not hindering his career and if his team ultimately wins the NBA championship with Parker, the $20 million lawsuit may be dismissed.
Parker nor his attorneys have made a statement regarding the matter. Parker and his team, the Spurs, are scheduled to play their second game against the Miami Heat June 9.
