Washington Redskins News: RGIII Won’t Be Limited Sunday

Should Robert Griffin III start for the Washington Redskins on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, the coaching staff won't limit the playbook just to help him ease back into game action. Coach Jay Gruden said that there will be no restrictions on Griffin, who hasn't played since dislocating his ankle in Week 2.

"If there was any hesitation as far as that is concerned, I wouldn't be thinking about playing him," Gruden said. "That is part of my decision going in."

Gruden will not be reluctant to call read options or any other plays that demand a certain level of physicality from Griffin.

"He has got to be 100 percent, and by 100 percent, I mean able to do everything-run all the plays we want, the boots, what he's got to do, the quarterback draws, whatever the heck it is outside the pocket."

"That," Gruden added, "is what makes Robert, Robert."

Gruden did not officially name RGIII the starter against Minnesota this weekend. However, it is widely expected that the former No. 2 overall pick will take the field on Sunday if there are no setbacks between now and game time.

"So, when he is cleared, he is cleared to do everything," Gruden added. "We can't hold back because of any past injuries. He has got to play the position the way he plays it."

We discussed Griffin's fantasy prospects and what his return means for other Redskins weapons going forward. While Colt McCoy led Washington to an exciting upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys Monday night, Griffin is a clear upgrade over him and Kirk Cousins.
