Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's love story might be coming to an end.
A new report from E! News suggested that the couple's marriage is on the rocks, but they have not yet considered divorce. A source close to the singer told E! News that "things still aren't good" between the couple, who married in July 2013 in the south of France.
The "Hello Kitty" singer and her 39-year-old Nickelback singer hubby have reportedly been fighting a lot in the past few months and are having a lot of issues.
"Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out," the source added. "They don't like Chad, but she's already been through one painful divorce and they don't want to see her going through another unless there's no other option. Also, she and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug."
Last month, Lavigne celebrated her 30th birthday without Kroeger by her side. E! Online reported that Kroeger was spotted last week at Hollywood hotspot Bar Marmont without his wedding ring.
The source added: "[She's] a bit lost right now. Her career isn't in the best place and she's trying to figure out what she wants for her future. She's trying to write music and she paints, but her life is in limbo."
Lavigne and Kroeger, who meet while collaborating on Lavigne's album, have reportedly broken their vows to one another after promising never to go out to nightclubs or drink without each other.
"[Now that] the album didn't do as well as they had hoped...they're finding that they're not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things," the source said. "There's jealousy on both sides. She flirts, he flirts. She's very insecure to begin with."
The singer reportedly believes having a baby could save her marriage - the source added that Lavigne is desperate to have children.
"Motherhood is something she really wants for herself," the source said. "So this thing with Chad, it's going to go one of two ways. Either they're going to get rid of each other or there's a shot they might try to have a baby to save the marriage. My bet is they end up splitting."
