“Fast and Furious 6” has exploded at the box office. It made approximately $97 million in its opening weekend and has already made almost half a billion dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
So acting in the next installment of the extremely successful movie series, would probably be a good idea for Lautner.
“It is no secret that he wants a career like Tom Cruise,” our source says. ”Getting to be a part of a huge franchise like the Fast series is one of his ideas to jump start his action career.
In other “Fast and Furious 7” news, Vin Diesel has confirmed the Middle East as a site for where the film will be shot.
"We're definitely going back home, as you know from seeing Fast and Furious 6” he said durin an interview with Digital Spy. "We will have a stint in Tokyo and there is the Middle East next, that could be very interesting."
Action fans can also be excited about the next villain in the “Fast and Furious” series. “Transporter”* and “Parker” star Jason Statham has been added to the cast and will play Owen Shaw’s brother Ian Shaw, according to IMDb.com. Viewers met Ian Shaw for a brief moment during a post-credit teaser at the end of “Fast and Furious 6.”
During a recent interview with NBC Latino on the show “Cafecito,” hosted by Feliciano Garcia, Michelle Rodriguez confirmed the release date for the movie.
“They just announced that ‘Fast & Furious 7’ shoots in September and will release in 2014 next year in July.”
