Well, well, well.
It seems like the Eagles' nonchalant interest in trading for Tampa Bay Buccaneers' wide receiver Vincent Jackson ahead of the NFL's trade deadline may have been a bit more substantial than previously thought.
The Eagles reportedly tried to trade for the veteran receiver, but the Bucs turned them down, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
Glazer did not say what the Eagles offered in their attempt to acquire the 31-year-old Jackson. He later clarified that the Bucs didn't offer the receiver, but the Eagles tried anyway.
Jackson is due a base salary of $9.77 million in the next two seasons of his deal, though none of it is guaranteed.
He currently has 26 grabs for 357 yards and two touchdowns thus far this season.
HNGN reported ahead of the trade deadline that the Buccaneers were, if not necessarily shopping them, at least taking calls on both Jackson and running back Doug Martin.
As their season wastes away, many thought the Bucs would be looking to get value for older players no longer in their future plans. They abstained from making any major moves, thought more than likely due to the simple fact that whatever teams offered, Philadelphia or otherwise, was not to up to snuff.
