Monday marks the 20th anniversary of the day police arrested and charged South Carolina mother Susan Smith with two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly drowning her children in a lake according to The Charlotte Observer.
Smith previously said an African American man hijacked her car and drove off with the children in tow after he approached the family at a stop light with a gun the Arts and Entertainment television network stated in a documentary.
Smith is currently serving a life sentence in the case HLNTV reported.
