New York's 3-4 season has gone like this: lose two straight, win three straight, lose two straight. Their last loss came on Oct. 19 against the Dallas Cowboys, 31-21. The offense has continued to be inconsistent in its first year under coordinator Ben McAdoo, although quarterback Eli Manning did make it through the Cowboys game without throwing an interception.
Despite having a losing record, the Giants are still only three games out from the top spot in the NFC East.
"We've got nine games to play as well as we can possibly play," said Giants coach Tom Coughlin, via ESPN. "I think anybody in that locker room can do that. They just have to realize the amount of the season and the schedule that's gone by and yet we have nine opportunities. Let's go. One at a time."
Indianapolis, meanwhile, had their five-game winning streak end last week in a 51-34 loss at Pittsburgh. The defining play from the game was quarterback Andrew Luck's "butt safety," in which he tripped at the goal line, fell on his butt and got called for intentional grounding after throwing the ball away.
"Take it as a learning situation. What can you do differently? Try to inch forward and take a sack on the half-yard line or spin around, try and get up and get the ball in the vicinity of a receiver to throw it away," Luck said. "But yeah, bonehead play by me."
The Colts are still 5-3, and their secondary could be bolstered with the possible return of safety LaRon Landry, who completed his four-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. He was a no-show at the Colts facility on Monday, though, according to ESPN.
