Idina Menzel, Sting and the cast of "Sesame Street" will lead Santa Claus into Herald Square for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.
The parade announced its first round of performers and famous attendees, who will step off at 77th Street and Central Park West in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 9 p.m. on NBC. More than 8,000 people will participate in the annual event.
In addition to Menzel and Sting, the other music performers include Kiss, Meghan Trainor, Renee Fleming, Romeo Santos, Hilary Duff and Nick Jonas. Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez, 11-year-old actress Quvenzhane Wallis, Little League superstar Mo'ne Davis and former NHL players John LeClair and Pat LaFontaine will also take part.
The parade will debut a new balloon for Pikachu that has flown high for the last 15 years, according to Gamespot. The yellow Pokemon character will wear a festive scarf as he holds a snowman Pikachu adorned with its own Santa hat. The character Weeruptor from the video game series "Skylanders" will also make its first outing above the streets of Manhattan.
Marching bands from Utah, Georgia, Indiana and the Bahamas will all participate in the festivities, as well as the Harlem Globetrotters and Varsity Spirit Cheer.
More than 4,000 Macy's employees will volunteer to lead the parade on its two and a half mile march that ends at the department store's flagship store on 34th Street.
